DLS-CSB Wins 2010 National Inter-Cities Chess Tournament

The De La Salle- College of St. Benilde Team emerged the overall champion in the 2010 National Inter-Cities and Municipalities Rapid Chess Team Championship at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome last December 19, 2010. The team led by Joel Pimentel and Jimsoon Bitoon bagged 70 thousand pesos cash prize, medals and trophy. The winners were awarded by Dagupan City Councilor Brian Lim and City Administrator Vlad Mata. The La Salle team finished with a nine-round total of 16 points on seven wins and two draws in the prestigious, two-day competition organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) in cooperation with the Dagupan City government. Metro Manila Development Authority-Makati, led by GM Wesley So, and Don Galo-Parañaque City finished joint second with 14 points. Calamba-GPTex Global-A and Roxas-Palawan tied for fourth to fifth places with 13 points. In solo sixth place is the GM John Paul Gomez-led Muntinlupa, which won over Angeles City, 3-1; Ricnor Farms...

Willing Willie goes to Lingayen, Pangasinan

To get TV5's regional expansion rolling on, the TV network brought their highest rating show to Pangasinan, Willing Willie . The estimated live audience last Saturday, December 18, 2010 was 100,000.  Update:  Willing Willie in Lingayen is now the highest rating episode/show since Willing Willie started airing.  Its rating was pegged at 37% during that day beating the show's rivals in the same time slot. TV5 is Coming to Dagupan City

TV5, the country's fastest growing network is finally coming to Dagupan City and Pangasinan. This development is part of the network's expansions in programming, infrastructure and technology which is regarded as the greatest ever seen in the local landscape for the past decades. TV5's plans include putting up a TV5 Dagupan office and a Baguio news bureau. Local news programs and variety shows are to be expected by the first quarter of 2011. TV5 will also prioritize the hiring of locals in the area. The expansion of its 92.3 News FM in the provincial areas would surely make TV5's regional presence felt even more. Dagupan City Government Employees Night 2010

  The employees of the City Government of Dagupan had a welcome respite from their work during their Employees' Night last December 17, 2010.  The different departments gave their best for the dance contest as the winner received P20,000, the 1st runner-up P15,000 and 2nd runner-up P10,000. What made their night was the announcement of Mayor Benjie S. Lim that the employees would receive their Christmas bonuses. Regular employees would receive P10,000, Emergency workers - P5,000 and volunteers - P1,000. Mayor Benjie S. Lim had a mini-concert with The Bossings Band. He first sang his signature song (which was also his campaign jingle) after which he and  Joana Marie Solomon, Ms. Dagupan 2010  sang a duet of " Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang ". Mayor Lim also rocked the crowd by performing a medley of Beatles songs. He serenaded the ladies in the audience with much gusto as he belted out ala Michael Buble; " The Way You Look Tonight ." Joana Marie M. Solomon is Miss Dagupan 2010. She is also the runaway winner of What's Up Dagupan Online Poll . For being this year's Miss Dagupan titleholder, she will walk away with  P30,000 and a trophy. She will also  represent the city in the Miss Earth competition and will serve as the city’s ambassador of goodwill. Alannah Guselle C. Cuison, who won Miss Dagupan 2010 Texter's Choice  won as the 1st runner-up,  P20,000 cash prize and a trophy. Mary Ann L. Callejo is Miss Dagupan 2010 2nd runner-up. She won  P10,000 cash prize and a trophy. The Coronation Night will be on December 26, 2010 at the Dagupan City Plaza.
