DLS-CSB Wins 2010 National Inter-Cities Chess Tournament
The De La Salle- College of St. Benilde Team emerged the overall champion in the 2010 National Inter-Cities and Municipalities Rapid Chess Team Championship at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome last December 19, 2010. The team led by Joel Pimentel and Jimsoon Bitoon bagged 70 thousand pesos cash prize, medals and trophy. The winners were awarded by Dagupan City Councilor Brian Lim and City Administrator Vlad Mata. The La Salle team finished with a nine-round total of 16 points on seven wins and two draws in the prestigious, two-day competition organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) in cooperation with the Dagupan City government. Metro Manila Development Authority-Makati, led by GM Wesley So, and Don Galo-Parañaque City finished joint second with 14 points.
