Dagupan City Athletic Meet 2011

The 2011 Dagupan City Athletic Meet was formally opened on February 2, 2011 at the  Dagupan City National High School with the City Mayor, Hon. Benjamin S. Lim delivering the keynote speech.  The 2011 Dagupan City Athletic Meet is an athletic competition among the different districts of DepEd Dagupan. Athletics, basketball, football, taekwondo, badminton and other sports will be played in different venues in the city. The theme for this year's  Dagupan City Athletic Meet  is "Play for the School, Win for the City" The athletic meet will end on February 4, 2011. 2nd Jimmy Fernandez Cup to kick off on January 7

The 2nd Jimmy Fernandez Cup Basketball Championship is slated to start on January 7, 2011 at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome. The eight collegiate teams that will be participating in the tournament are: Defending champion Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA); AIE-College; Colegio de Dagupan (CdD); PIMSAT Colleges; Pangasinan State University (PSU-Lingayen, Pangasinan); University of Eastern Pangasinan (UEP-Binalonan, Pangasinan); University of Luzon (Team B); and University of Pangasinan-PHINMA (Team B). Seato Gonomil, the league project director explained that the tournament format will be double round-robin elimination. The top two teams will advance to the best-of-three championship games. In case of a three or four-way tie in the top standings after the eliminations, the winner-over-the other rule and/or quotient system will be invoked to determine who will square off for the crown. St. John Cathedral School Wins Sportsmanship and 4th Place in Passarelle Nationals

Ateneo de Manila University and La Salle Green Hills overwhelmed their respective opponents to capture the SBP and Passerelle titles, respectively, in the Milo BEST finals at the Easter College Gym in Baguio City last November 23, 2009. In the Passarelle division, St. John Cathedral of Dagupan City settled for fourth place as Sacred Heart School Jesuit-Cebu bested them to cop third place. St. John Cathedral School however won the Sportsmanship Award. The Milo-sponsored tournament which features a single, round-robin elimination format, showcases some of the nation’s best elementary and high school basketball teams and is widely recognized as the country’s only nationwide youth development tournament.
