UPang High School Senior wins Voice of our Youth Cluster Contest

Dagupan City (November 11, 2010) -- Kim Alexis R. Vidal, a 4th year High School student from the University of Pangasinan emerged as the champion of the Voice of the Youth Impromptu Speaking Cluster Competition. He bested 8 participants from different schools as he expounded on the topic: "The Proposed K-12 Curriculum." All participants were in a closed room before the contest and were given only 15 minutes each to prepare for the topic before delivering their impromptu speech. 


Kim received a certificate, P3,000 cash prize and will represent the Cluster 2B in the District Eliminations in Baguio City on November 27, 2010. His coach was Ms. Princess Maramba and was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dagupan. Kim could vie for the Voice of our Youth Nationals if he wins the District elimination.
  
The 2nd placer and alternate representative to the District Eliminations is Carlisle Aurabelle Marquez Casuga of St. Albert the Great School. She was ably coached by Ms. Realyn Mejia and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan. Carlisle received a certificate and P2,000 cash. 

The 3rd place, which includes a certificate and P2,000 cash went to Mangaldan National High School lass, Mary-Ann Senin Aquino. Mary's coach was Raymundo E. Lagera. Her sponsor was the Rotary Club of Metro Dagupan.
  
VOICE OF OUR YOUTH is an impromptu speaking competition open to Filipino high school students, 14 to 18 years old, from public and private schools nationwide. It seeks to develop the students' ability to form their point of view on a particular topic within a limited preparation time and to effectively convey their message to an audience in plain English. The competition aims to inspire the Filipino youth to attain world-class proficiency in English communication, in furtherance of universal understanding and cooperation.

Rotary International District 3790 Cluster 2B is composed of RC Dagupan, RC Dagupan East, RC Central Pangasinan, RC Downtown Dagupan, and RC Metro Dagupan.
